Welcome:
Welcome to the Memphis Belle Project a collaborative partnership between The Memphis Belle Memorial Association and Lausanne Collegiate School.
The Memphis Belle Memorial Association is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to honoring the famous “Memphis Belle,” a WWII bomber, her crew, the 8th Air Force and everyone who served in WWII to keep America’s freedom alive. MBMA also strives to teach all generations about the importance of the Memphis Belle’s missions and the other war aircraft and the brave crews who served in this war.
Partnership between MBMA and Lausanne Collegiate School:
Lausanne Collegiate School signed a partnership with the Memphis Belle Memorial Association that gives Lausanne students the opportunity to organize and update a web site of the Memphis Belle archives. This web site is primarily used as a resource for students of all ages to learn more about this great aircraft in Memphis history and to put the Memphis Belle into context with World War II and the impact the it had on the citizens of the world. The web site is dedicated to preserving the history and legacy of the Memphis Belle, allowing it’s tale to live on regardless of the era.
The Oral History Program at Lausanne:
The Oral History Program at Lausanne Collegiate School is also devoted to preserving world history as well as expanding the global perspective of student participants. The World War II Project, student-led interviews with veterans, is a major element of this program. Every high school student at Lausanne has the opportunity to participate in the interview process and to enrich his or her global perspective by placing history lessons learned in the classroom into context through the firsthand accounts of interview participants.
